In case you missed it, UTMB Featherfest is taking place next week, and leading up to it, there’s been a photo contest running each week in the Galveston County Daily News. A longtime UTMB employee and medical illustrator in Surgery, Steve Schuenke, has been raking in the awards, for first place the first week with a stunning photo of an egret or heron in flight, and third place two weeks later.
Steve’s another example of a talented UTMB person with some great outside-of-work interests. If you do something others might find interesting, I’d love to hear about it. If you want to know more about FeatherFest, here’s some info:
Sixth Annual Galveston FeatherFest April 3 – 6, 2008
Galveston Island, one of the top locations for birding in the nation, hosts the sixth annual FeatherFest April 3 – 6, 2008. The outdoor nature festival showcases art, history and more than 200 species of birds during the height of spring migration.
