Get your motor running…

The Lone Star Motorcycle Rally rumbles back into town this weekend, November 2-5, drawing cyclists from across the country to Galveston for an event that some say is now larger than Mardi Gras. Two entertainment districts, one downtown and one on the Seawall, will feature bands and activities throughout the weekend. Special traffic routes will be in place, and street closures will interrupt Island Transit’s trolley and bus service. Maps and additional information are available on the city’s website, www.cityofgalveston.org.

If you’re waxing your Harley in anticipation, you can get info about specific Lone Star Rally activities at www.lonestarrally.com or call (281) 597-8800.

For those coming from the direction of Beaumont, please be aware that there are two ferries out of service and waits are in excess of one perhaps even two hours just to get across. Just an FYI. Hey, Pep, thanks for the blog. I have a couple of comments.. one, other than bookmarking you and Matt H’s blog.. there aren’t really easy links to your blogs and I really enjoy reading them.. maybe there are others out there who would enjoy them as well, but don’t know about them. The second comment.. I’m not really sure who to ask about this. There are a lot of UTMB who routinely cross the ferry just to get here. There are warnings to those who might experience problems if you are coming from the mainland. It would have been so nice to know that DOT was sending two of our ferries off to service and another just completely broke down. 1 3/4 hours in line later and a late bump in my service record I arrived at work. Any suggestions on who might help keep up with potential problems we have with the ferry system. Thanks again,
