Making a pitch for a friend…

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

In cleaning out my files recently, I came across an 18-inch stack of notes and papers associated with our work on the State Employee Charitable Campaign for the last decade. I continue to be amazed—and love—the unbelievably generous spirit exhibited by so many of the people at UTMB. People like you and me contributed more than $700,000 last year to charities near and far. Here’s one more plea you’ve hopefully already heard about, for someone near and dear to many people on campus:

Fundraiser for Pam Bass
The Support Staff Professionals (SSP) is doing a fundraiser for one of their members Pam Bass who will be receiving a bone marrow transplant. 1st Prize is a Galveston VIP Pass for over 20 attractions, 2nd Prize is a Rainforest Café Gift Basket and 3rd Prize is a Starbucks Gift Basket. Donations are $1 each. Please contact any SSP member for tickets or contact Lori Kusnerik at x70261 and Melanie Loving at x22791 for more information. The drawing will be October 6th at noon. Donations can also be made to Moody National Bank, c/o Dale Bass for the benefit of Pam Bass. For more information on SSP, visit our website at http://www.utmb.edu/ssp.

Yes, I am here

I’m finally settling into my new office in Rebecca Sealy. I spent a few weeks transitioning between roles, doing a little bit of both. Now my PC is set up, my wireless is working, and I’m almost done cleaning up my old office in the Administration Building. One amasses a lot of junk in a decade; a periodic flush is a good thing. Folks have asked me what I plan to do with pep talk, as it was a natural fit with my former internal communications role in Public Affairs, and not quite as logical for me as web director for our patient care portal, utmbhealthcare.org.  I guess in part that’s up to you, my readers. I’ll keep at this if you’ll keep reading, and hopefully together we’ll continue to move forward.
