Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights (and the Festival of Dedication), commemorates the victory of Judah the Maccabee and religious freedom, and the rededication of the Templein 165 BCE. It also celebrates the power of God and the faithfulness of Israel. Suspension of work is not required.
