UTMB followed proper protocol when treating a woman in the emergency room who died four days later at home of H1N1 virus complicated by viral pneumonia. Dr. Steve Quach, interim chief medical officer, said most people with flu who visit the ER are not admitted and that the woman did not have medical conditions warranting hospitalization.
