Employee Help Center

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

In an effort to help employees cope with the effects of IKE and its aftermath, UTMB has opened the Help Center.  The Help Center provides job search assistance, job fair information, helpful links, as well as classes to help one deal with  a variety of situations that may result from experiencing events such as IKE.  The link to the Help Center web page is http://www.utmb.edu/utmbemployeehelpcenter/

UTMB is also collaborating with Catholic Charities to create a fund for families affected by the recent staff reductions and have lost their homes due to IKE.   To nominate individuals or make a donation go to http://www.utmb.edu/utmbemployeehelpcenter/EmpRelief/default.htm

An introduction to EAC from President Callender

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

Dear Members of the University Community,

President CallenderI’m writing today to introduce you to the Employee Advisory Council (EAC), a new organization sponsored and supported by the Office of the President. The EAC represents Classified and Administrative & Professional employees, and its primary objectives include enhancing communication and promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.

The EAC currently consists of four appointed members from four widely-grouped areas within UTMB: the Schools, Community Health Services, Hospitals and Clinics, and University Support Areas. The representatives from each of these areas and two advisors have been working for the past year to create a structure and foundation for the EAC.

Elections are planned in January 2008 for four additional members (one from each group), and a call for nominations is now open for the new members. Online elections will be held annually; by January 2009, the group will have reached its full contingent of 12 elected members.

I’d like to thank the current members—Craig Peters with CMC, Melanie Loving with the SOM, Chuck Machner with Nursing Service, and Nuala Cullinane with Human Resources—for their time and service. I look forward to working closely with the EAC in 2008 for the greater good of UTMB and the many who make it  flourish.
